What is Design Concrete?

What is Design Concrete?

Our product is from a mixture of Portland cement, silica sand, polymer resins, with natural pigments which can be easily be applied to walls, floors, bathrooms, kitchens and many other surfaces, including furniture.

It is waterproof and can be applied to interiors as well as exteriors, even for swimming pools. It is different to polished concrete, which is a traditional concrete that is merely polished. Design Concrete is applied in the same way as plaster and is only 2mm thick.

The finished product is hard-wearing, flexible, seamless, versatile, with a tactile finish and is resistant to abrasion and staining creating a strong protective layer but also displays your personality

Beauty in Imperfection

The Wabi Sabi philosophy celebrates beauty in imperfection, embracing the transient and incomplete as essential elements of life. This Japanese aesthetic principle finds charm in flaws and the passage of time, expressing authenticity and individuality.

By applying Wabi Sabi to our product, we intentionally incorporate subtle imperfections and natural textures, creating unique pieces that resonate with the beauty of impermanence.

This approach distinguishes our product reflecting a profound respect for the natural world and the human experience. Wabi Sabi values materials in their most real, pure and honest version.

Our Story

Our story started 10 years ago during an exhibition in France. We met a certain artist who created furniture which inspired our current work today. The display was called ‘Béton Cire’ which was a wooden table with a concrete finish. At first we believed the table was made of slabs of stone. We were very curious and discussed with the artist. He explained that the table itself was wooden, but it had a plaster-like coating which made it look like concrete.

The more we understood the product, the more we applied it with our experience. We had once struggled to find the perfect floor wihtin our budget, everything we wanted were miles away.

So we thought, we can cut the budget by ten-fold by using the same coating that was used for the table with concrete. With a rich history of artistic background, we decided to combine our experience to solve a problem and provided beautiful concrete finish for an affordable price.
